Located 40 minutes from Vancouver, Peace Portal Golf Course is in sunny South Surrey, minutes from the U.S. border. Established in 1928, Peace Portal is one of British Columbia's oldest golf courses and is a local favorite, as well as a tourist destination.
Celebrating over 80 years of golfing history, Peace Portal is a layout that has remained virtually unchanged since it's opening. Beautiful old growth trees combined with rolling terrain make for a memorable round. The 17th is the signature hole. A large lake stretches the entire length of the left side of the fairway. The Campbell River winds along the right side and in front of the green. A landing area surrounded by water makes for a very intimidating tee shot. Once your drive has been safely negotiated, you are faced with an approach shot to a raised green, which always makes club selection difficult. The hole plays only 350 yards from the blue tees, but like most holes at Peace Portal, the emphasis is on accuracy not length. The fifth hole is the most difficult. It is a 461-yard par four that dog legs to the right. A well-struck drive must be placed in the left side of the fairway to allow for a clear approach to the green. After your drive, a long iron is still needed to reach the small, wellguarded green. A par on this hole will be one you talk about after your round.
No matter how many times one plays Peace Portal it is always an interesting round. It is a demanding par 72 layout that combines tree-lined fairways, challenging lies, and small undulating greens. Playing 6,388 yards [131 slope]
from the blue tees it often leaves the first time golfer wondering why they hadn't scored better.
